The
laundry room is one of the most used spaces in a home. Why not
make it a place that you enjoy visiting? Read on to see how
dressing up this space is as easy as 1, 2, 3 (and 4)!

Paint
the walls a fun color.
When
we moved into our current home, my husband didn't trust me
to pick out the paint colors. After spending nine years in a
house with a jack-o-lantern orange kitchen and neon green
bathroom, I couldn't blame him so we hired a
professional decorator to help with color choices.
She suggested neutral shades in the main living
spaces and encouraged me to pick a cheery color for
our laundry room. The color I chose was Citrus Blossom
(Benjamin Moore's Classic Color #123).

Build
in the basics when possible.
In
addition to painting the room a cool melon color, we asked
the builder to install an
ironing center
and a laundry shoot (which was
the first thing my daughter checked out when we walked
through the house before moving in).

Find
a focal point that makes the room.
I
never thought to hang artwork in a laundry room until I
received
a catalog with several laundry art prints. Purchasing
one of the
paintings inspired me to replace my mismatched laundry
baskets with new color-coordinated
laundry totes from the Container Store.
-
Add
personal touches from around your home.
To go
with the painting, I hung two of my favorite
dresses above the washer and dryer. As a final touch, I
placed a vase of flowers and a photo of my daughters
(wearing the dresses that I hung in the laundry room) on a
shelf next to the painting.

Remember,
even a laundry room deserves to be de-cluttered and dressed up
to reflect the people who use it most.
